It Happens Here

... Really?

Some think domestic violence doesn't exist around us.

Domestic violence affects everyone, either directly or indirectly, whether it is through living in fear of being assaulted, actually being assaulted, or having a loved one who has been assaulted. Statistics show that every year between 2 and 4 million women are abused by their husbands or boyfriends. Last year Missouri Shores provided services to approximately 800 people locally. Approximately 3.3 million children witness violence towards their mothers each year. Without intervention, those who were abused as children or who witness abuse often become the next generation of abusers or victims in violent relationships continuing the cycle of abuse. Missouri Shores Domestic Violence center is committed to breaking the cycle of abuse. Through direct service and education Missouri Shores strives to help victims of domestic violence and sexual assault make the transition from victim to survivor, thus ending family violence in our community.
