Missouri Shores Charitable Foundation

Missouri Shores has determined a need to stabilize it’s funding base and establish a system of planned giving that insures the financial stability of the organization and allow for funding of needs that are not covered by grant funds. To this end The Missouri Shores Charitable Foundation, an endowment fund, has been established.

The Goal for the Charitable Foundation has been set at $833,000.00, to provide an annual income of in the region of $35,000.00.

Gifting provides many rewards to the donor(s).  These rewards include peace of mind, knowledge of the perpetuity of the gift and the preservation of the services provided by the agency, tax advantages, and the comfort of sharing prosperity.  Gifting to this foundation will allow donors to access these rewards and provide for a permanent endowment fund for Missouri Shores Domestic Violence Center.

We gratefully accept commitments and outright gifts in many forms, many of these benefiting the donor as well as the Missouri Shores Charitable Foundation. Please call today and we will be happy to send you more information and/or discuss possible gift giving strategies with you.

Missouri Shores with the assistance of the Charitable Foundation committee, are currently seeking donors.  Many generous donations and commitments are already being received and we are excited to announce that we have currently reached 10% of our goal.

The effort to establish this fund is separate from our annual fund raising efforts. It is important that the drive to establish a Charitable Foundation does not cut across our traditional fundraising efforts because these annual events form a significant amount of our annual budget.

Look for our flag to help you track our progress.

Goals for the Missouri Shores Community Foundation

In the changing world of grant funding with its unpredictability and restrictions, there is a need to broaden the funding base of Missouri Shores Domestic Violence Center and establish a system of planned giving that will insure the financial stability of the organization and allow for funding of needs that are not covered by grant funds.

One avenue of achieving this goal has been to develop a permanent endowment fund that will provide the agency with stable and predictable annual funding which is not restricted to specific areas of operation.

We are seeking potential donors who would consider potential matching funds, grant dollars, and other contributions. His/her contribution will be added to this permanent fund where only the proceeds will be utilized, thereby ensuring the permanent endowment of Missouri Shores Domestic Violence Center.

The Oahe Foundation will maintain this fund with the board of Directors of Missouri Shores Domestic Violence Center administering it.

Steps to be Taken
  1. Determine amount of gift.
  2. Decide when gift should be made.
  3. Choose property for tax-effective gift.
  4. Minimize impact of gift on self and heirs.
  5. Consult your attorney or tax advisor before
  6. completing gift.
  7. Don’t wait—Procrastination is the Thief of Time (and taxes!)
